Brick-slips by Tonwerk are suitable for use with all external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) and have a water absorption rate well below 3%. Our brick-slips are backed by an EPD in accordance with EN 15804 and offer a documented service life measured in decades.

HIGH-QUALITY BRICK SLIPS MADE IN GERMANY
As a company based in the Kannenbäckerland, a region with a long-standing tradition of ceramic manufacturing, we produce brick slips from Westerwald clay. Our brick slips are available in various formats, including 240 × 71 mm (Normalformat NF), 240 × 52 mm (Dünnformat DF), 290 × 52 mm (Langdünnformat LDF), 360 × 52 mm and 468 × 40 mm (Langformat LF40). We also offer project-specific custom formats on request.
The different formats allow for a variety of laying patterns and design options for facades.
MODERN EXTRUSION PROCESS
We manufacture our brick slips from fired clay using an extrusion process. The continuous pressing of the raw material and precise cutting of the blanks enable high dimensional accuracy and distinctive surface structures. Our digital printing process also allows for customised colours, glazes and surface effects. This enables us to meet project-specific design requirements.
PRODUCTION TO RELEVANT STANDARDS AND VERSATILE APPLICATIONS
Our brick slips are manufactured in accordance with the relevant requirements of DIN 18515-1 and DIN EN 14411 for the respective product.
Depending on the format and laying pattern, different facade appearances can be created – from calm and clear to more varied and structured designs. Tonwerk brick slips are suitable for a range of architectural applications, including new-builds, renovations and interior spaces. With a water absorption rate below 3%, Tonwerk brick-slips are frost-resistant and suitable for use on all common external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS).
EFFICIENT ON-SITE PROCESSES
Our brick slips can be supplied in colour-coordinated configurations tailored to the specific project. This can reduce the amount of sorting required on site. Deliveries coordinated with the respective project support structured preparation and efficient installation processes.
MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION
As a manufacturer from the Westerwald region, we combine over 100 years of experience with modern production processes and systematic energy management. We also consider the raw materials, energy and materials used throughout our production processes. Environmental information in the form of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) is available for our products. Our energy management system is certified according to DIN EN ISO 50001:2018.
BRICK SLIPS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO FULL BRICKS
Brick slips enable ceramic facade design with less material thickness and lower weight than full bricks. They are therefore particularly suitable for applications where a slim facade construction is required. Depending on the construction and system, brick slips can be used for renovations and subsequent facade cladding. Their suitability should be assessed based on the intended facade construction and the applicable technical requirements.
